She moved from the city of her birth to Los Angeles when she was 19, in order to pursue a career in acting. Handler began her career as an actress in order to assist her. When she turned 21 years old, Handler decided to pursue stand-up comedy as a full-time profession as she was able to discover her storytelling talents. The beginning of her career Handler started her professional career as a member of the Oxygen network, which was an all-female cast on an undiscovered camera/real-life joke television series Girls Behaving Poorly.
